Burnley defender Andre Bikey will delay his departure for the Africa Cup of Nations to help the Clarets during the busy Christmas period.

The Cameroon international will miss his country's training camp, allowing him to face Everton on 28 December.

He will also be available for the FA Cup third round on 2 January before travelling to Angola for the tournament which starts on 10 January.

He said: "I am going to be with Burnley for the maximum time possible."

Bikey told the club's website: "The Cameroon manager is going to give us the maximum time to be at the club.

"The African Cup starts on 10 January but I think we are going to get dispensation for four or five days.

"The English League doesn't stop so I don't have to be with the team for two weeks before."

Paul Le Guen's Cameroon side will face Tunisia, Zambia and Gabon in the competition's group stage.
