Zamalek will seek damages from the Egyptian FA after Amr Zaki suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty, a club board member said on Thursday.

The combative striker has not played for Zamalek since picking up the injury in Egypt's 1-0 defeat to Algeria in a controversial World Cup playoff on November 18.

His absence clearly affected the Cairo club as they slipped to 13th place in the 16-team league table, with just one point separating them from the relegation zone.

"Zaki sustained the injury while playing for the national team, so the EFA should pay for his treatment," Zamalek board member Ibrahim Youssef told FilGoal.com.

"The player will travel to Germany for treatment but the EFA are obliged to dig deep into their pockets."
