A WEAKENED CAPS United left Harare for Khartoum where they will take on Sudanese side Al Hilal in a decisive CAF Confederations Cup third round encounter on Sunday.
United travelled without six of the players who have been a key part of their progress in the continental tournament.
Utility player Method Mwanjali, Khama Billiart, Lionel Mtizwa, Nyasha Mushekwi, Oscar Machapa and Tafadzwa Rusike have since left United to join their new clubs in the South African premiership.
Mwanjali, Mtizwa and Mushekwi were snapped up by Mamelodi Sundowns while Khama Billiart and Tafadzwa Rusike were sold to Ajax Cape Town.
Machapa joined Moroka Swallows.
However coach, Lloyd Chitembwe said he still has a side strong enough to get a result in Khartoum.
"Our mission is to go there and come out with a positive result. These youngsters are hungry to prove that they are good enough to play in this team and win things for the team.
“I like that spirit. There is no need to mourn the departure of those six players because they are no longer our players. We will pick those who are available," Chitembwe said before the team's departure.
United overcame Nigerian side Warri Wolves to make it into the third round of the competition
The Harare side grabbed a crucial away goal when losing 1-2 in Nigeria before wrapping up the tie with a convincing 2-0 win in Harare.
Meanwhile the Sudanese side will be looking to get some useful tips on their opponents from winger Edward Sadomba who was signed from Caps’ bitter rivals Dynamos.
